Preparatory course for international PR diploma
Cross border business becomes more and more reality, even in the PR industry. Therefore the demand for international PR experts is growing. This was the reason for the Brussels based International Institute for Quality in Public Relations (IQPR) together with the "Deutsche Akademie für Public Relations (DAPR)" from Germany to develop a new vocational training course, that can be completed by an examination, which leads to the title "PR Consultant International (DAPR/IQPR)". The next three-days-training-course will take place in Brussels from 16th till 18th March 2009.
Condition to participate for candidates from Germany is a PR consultant diploma either from DAPR, PZOK, DPRG or AKOMM, a university diploma in PR or communications sciences or practical experience in the communication field for several years. For candidates from other countries similar conditions will apply.
Besides PR knowledge amongst others in fields like "strategic planning" and "crisis communication" participants should have basic knowledge in "PR quality management". The Brussels training contains subjects such as
- PR in Europe (European Union) and in the world
- Special situation in Central- and East-Europe (CEE)
- PR in the growth market China
- Quality in Public Relations
- Cooperation with international press agencies
- Working with PR agencies, international networks
Centre stage will take a series of visits at the EU parliament, the commission as well as meetings with members of the parliament (MEP) the International Federation of Journalists and international press agencies, such as Euractiv or Bloomberg.
The fee for the three-days-training-course is 2.990 Euro. It contains participation, material, coffee breaks and conference beverages as well as three luncheons and two dinners. Travel costs and overnight stay are at the expenses of the participants. The organizer will recommend appropriate hotels in Brussels.
After completion of the three-days-training-course the participants have the possibility to register for a one-day revision course followed by the examination, which will take place on from 29th and 30th April 2009 in Brussels.
In the meantime all candidates will receive additional material - mostly via internet - for reading and preparing the examination. The fee for revision course and examination to obtain the title "PR Consultant International (DAPR/IQPR)" is 1.450 Euro. Condition to apply is the participation at the three-days-training-course.
DAPR-President Jürg Leipziger: "Cross border communication becomes more and more important. That's one of the reasons why our first international examination in 2008 got such a big interest. Guarantor for quality is the huge experience that DAPR could gain in more than 18 years as institute for vocational training and examination."
Chairman of the examination board is the long lasting president of CERP, Thomas Achelis (Munich). He will be supported by Erwin De Weerdt (Brussels), former president of the "Centre Belge des Relations Publiques" and other renowned personalities from the international public relations world.
The next three-days-training-courses will take place from 29th June till 1st July as well as from 28th till 30th October in Brussels, revision course and examination about six weeks later.
IQPR was initiated by the international associations IPRA, CERP and ICO in 1995 after their joint declaration on quality improvement for the public relations profession in Paris (Paris Declaration). Its aims are to develop and publish common quality standards for the profession and guidelines for quality certification.
